Litigation support for building design and construction dispute investigations and reports, premises liability and accident investigations, construction cost estimating, site surveys, depositions, arbitration and court appearances; coordination with accident re-constructionists, structural/mechanical/ traffic engineers and biomedical experts.
 
1982 to 2001 - Michael S. Johnstone AIA – Private practice in architecture and forensic services for: retail stores, shopping centers, parking lots and parking structures, commercial structures, restaurants and cafes, office interiors, golf courses, clubhouses, driving ranges and custom homes. Forensic investigation of commercial / residential construction disputes and accidents. Complete architectural design services, including: safety studies, programming and schematic design, entitlement procurement, design, construction documents, permitting, contractor selection and construction administration.
 
1979 to 1982 - Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz – Administrative Manager – A 160 person architectural and planning firm in San Francisco. In charge of staff recruitment and management and planning for major mixed-use development studies in housing, urban mixed-use and adaptive re-use projects throughout the USA.
 
1976 to 1979 - Meyer/Johnstone Associates – President – Architecture and commercial interior design firm concentrating on office and medical interiors, retail stores and cafes. Complete design and construction administration services.
 
1974 to 1976 - San Francisco – Department of City Planning – Planner in charge of historic review of seismic renovation projects and creation of the 100 most significant historic buildings list. Assisted in drafting the new residential zoning ordinance.
 
1972 to 1974 - United Professional Constructors – Architect for a design/build organization in Denver, Colorado. Responsible for programming, design and construction documents for low-income and elderly multi-family housing.
