Michael S. Johnstone AIA combines golf course architecture with
over 30 years of commercial and residential design experience. This
unique and successful combination has enabled the firm to bring both design
expertise and golf knowledge to each project while understanding
complex factors such as topography, environment, history, landscape,
irrigation, construction and codes. Foremost, Michael holds a
deep concern to promote the beauty of the game. He studied golf course architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design under veteran golf course architects from both East and West coasts. His formal golf education culminated with a pilgrimage to Scotland that included study of St. Andrews, Muirfield and North Berwick.
Commercial: Michael Johnstone has completed over $200 million worth of commercial architecture during the last 25 years.

Recent projects include The Ghirardelli Chocolate Estate, a Tuscan-style Country Villa for a young family, and also a remodel of a small Victorian Farmhouse.
